Install & licence

One command to install, one key to activate, one command to update.

Install

sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://nemonix.ai/nemocode/get.sh)"

Use exactly this form, not curl … | sh: the installer has to ask you for your password, and a pipe takes the terminal away from it. It needs curl and tar. Builds exist for Linux (x64), macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) and Windows (x64).

On Windows, open PowerShell (no administrator rights needed) and run:

irm https://nemonix.ai/nemocode/get.ps1 | iex

It installs into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\nemocode and adds that folder to your user PATH; open a new terminal afterwards. Windows cannot replace a program while it runs, so to update, close Nemocode and run the same command again. What the installer does, once:

  1. Asks for the email and password of your Nemocode account and signs in.
  2. Stores a download token in Nemocode's folder, readable only by you. It has one right: to fetch a release. That is why later updates do not ask for your password again.
  3. Asks our licence server which build belongs to this machine, downloads it and checks it against the checksum published with it. If they do not match, nothing is installed. (This needs a checksum tool on the machine; without one, the installer says so and installs unverified.)
  4. Installs the programs (by default into ~/.local/bin — make sure that folder is on your PATH) and offers to activate the licence.

The installer needs a terminal to ask you. The folder for the programs can be changed with NEMOCODE_BIN_DIR, Nemocode's own folder with NEMOCODE_HOME. Run it again whenever you like: it is safe to repeat, and it is also the way back if the download token is ever lost. If no build exists for your platform yet, or your update window has ended, it says so instead of failing silently.

Activate

Buy a licence on the pricing page and sign up with the account code from your mail. On your account page you generate the licence key. It is shown once and can be used once: the installer asks for it at the end (press Enter to skip), or Nemocode asks for it on its first start. You give email, password and key, and this machine is registered.

TierWhat it is
SoloOne developer, unlimited projects, one machine at a time.
ProThe same for people who live in the terminal all day. A second machine is another licence at the same price, with its own update window.
TeamOne seat per person, up to 15 seats, each seat one licence and one machine. You assign the seats and can take them back. Team mode of the shared memory needs a Team licence.

A licence is offline or online. Offline never needs the network and is bound to one device; moving it needs our say-so. Online lets you swap devices yourself (three free swaps, then it goes through us), but the machine has to reach the licence server regularly: Nemocode checks in about every half hour, and after a few hours without contact it stops until it is connected again.

A licence is a purchase, not a subscription: the version you bought keeps working forever. What runs out after twelve months is the window for newer versions, and you can extend it when you want to.

Start it

cd /path/to/your/project
nemocode

nemocode starts the local server if it is not running and opens the screen. On the first start in a project, Nemocode indexes the code so it can find things without reading every file. That takes a moment once; afterwards it keeps itself up to date. Before the first mission, connect a model provider with /connect (see Models & cost).

CommandWhat it does
nemocode doctorChecks the installation, the provider credentials and the server.
nemocode server statusAlso start, stop and restart — restart it after an update if Nemocode was running before.
nemocode service installRuns the server as a login service, so it is already up when you start.
nemocode logsThe last lines of the log; -f follows it.

Update

nemocode update

It checks whether a newer version is covered by your licence, downloads it, verifies it against a checksum published next to the download, and replaces the programs. --check only reports; /update does the same from inside Nemocode. Your projects, settings and project memory are untouched.

You also get a mail when a new version is out, with what changed in it. It goes to everyone with an active licence who has used Nemocode recently — and it is the only mail we send about releases.

Where it keeps things. Nemocode stores its own data in a folder under your home directory: the project memory, the session history, the log. Your code stays where it is — nothing is copied anywhere.
