Keys
Everything is reachable from the keyboard. The footer of each screen shows what applies there, and the action bar at the bottom of the lists and of the gate shows the same keys as buttons.
Everywhere
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl + C | Quit Nemocode, from any screen and any window. |
| Esc | Close the window on top. What it does on a screen without a window is listed below for each screen. |
| Tab | Next tab, inside a window or screen that has tabs (the settings window, the gate, the memory graph); Shift + Tab goes back in the settings window. |
| ↑ ↓ | Move the selection (k and j work too in most lists, though not at the gate or in the chat). |
| ← → | Change the value of the selected setting, or pick an action in an action bar. |
| Enter | Apply, or open what the line offers. |
| Ctrl + O | Expand or collapse the output of every step. |
| Ctrl + V | Paste into the field that has the focus. In the chat, an image or a file
on the clipboard is attached instead of pasted as text: the message gets a
#image 12 or #file 12 reference. The numbers count
up across all projects and are never reused. |
In the chat
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enter | Send. A message sent while a
mission runs is queued and starts as the next mission; use
/steer to change the running one. |
| ↑ ↓ | Walk through what you sent in this session, including a draft you cleared by accident. In a message that wraps over several lines the arrows move the cursor first, and only at the first or last line go on to the history. |
| / | Command list; it narrows to the names that start with what you typed, alphabetically. ↑ ↓ choose, Tab completes the name, Enter runs the highlighted one, Esc clears the line. Once you type a space and an argument the list is gone and Enter sends the line. |
| Esc | While a mission runs: stop it
(a second press while it is stopping says Already cancelling).
While a project check, a compaction, a bootstrap, /learn or an
index run is going: cancel that. Otherwise: back to the session list. A
question, an approval or an open window takes the key first. |
| Shift + Tab | Cycle the permission mode: Read only, Plan, Ask, Accept edits, Auto, and
around again. The footer names the current one; /mode lists the
same five. |
| PgUp PgDn | Scroll the transcript by ten lines. |
| Shift + ↑ ↓ or Ctrl + ↑ ↓ | Scroll by one line. Many terminals keep Shift + arrow for their own scrollback and never pass it on; Ctrl + arrow is rarely taken. |
| Mouse wheel | Scrolls the whole screen, also while Nemocode is thinking. |
| Click on a step | Open or fold its detail. A click on a line saying that something was written to the memory takes it out again; a second click puts it back. |
| Drag with the mouse | Select text. Letting go copies it. |
| Ctrl + B | The background shells: commands that keep running. ↑ ↓ choose, k stops the selected one, Esc or Ctrl + B closes. With shells running, pressing ↓ twice at the very bottom (or Shift + ↓ once) selects the footer entry, and Enter opens the same list. |
| Ctrl + T | Switch between the session and its harvest session (in the chat only). See The harvest session. |
| ← | With an empty input field and subagents running: the subagent list. Enter watches the selected one, p pauses or resumes it, s or x stops it. In the watch view ↑ ↓ PgUp PgDn scroll, g and G jump to the start and to the live end, Esc goes back to the list. |
When Nemocode asks
A shell command, a file change or another action that needs your word opens a question in place.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| y or 1 | Allow this once. |
| a or 2 | Allow this command from now on, in this project. Offered for shell commands only. |
| n or 3 | Deny. Without the from now on line it is 2. |
| ↑ ↓ Enter | Move to an answer and confirm it. |
| Esc | Deny. |
A command that asks for input, such as a password, opens a masked field: Enter sends what you typed, Esc sends nothing.
When Nemocode asks a question
A question with options — a clarification, a plan for you to release, a folder the agent wants to reach — is answered like this:
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1–9 | Pick that option straight away. |
| ↑ ↓ Enter | Move and confirm. The last line lets you write your own answer; Esc leaves that field again. |
| Esc | Takes the first option, the model's best guess — with two exceptions: the plan and the folder question, below. |
Releasing a plan offers four answers: 1 approve and build in auto mode, 2 approve and ask before shell commands, 3 keep planning, 4 reject and stop. Esc here means keep planning: the mission stays in plan mode and nothing is released. Esc never approves a plan. The last line of the list lets you type what should change; that counts as keep planning, with your text as the instruction.
Access to a folder outside the project offers four answers: 1 allow always, 2 just this mission, 3 no, 4 never. Esc here means no — it never grants access.
When a compaction wants your say on what to keep, each flagged point can be
switched with Space, Enter or
its number; the last line submits, and Esc submits as
it stands. When you type a keyword such as ultracode and send it, a
window asks whether to start it, send the text as a normal message, or cancel
(↑ ↓
Enter, Esc cancels).
In the project list
Every action is also in the bar at the bottom: ← → picks one, Enter runs it.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enter | Open the project. |
| n | New project. |
| i | Import an existing repository. |
| a | Add another folder to the selected project. |
| p | Pending facts of the selected project. |
| e | Session access: which past sessions the curator may read. |
| x | External agents: what Claude Code, Codex, opencode and Claude Desktop may do in each project. |
| s | Change the sort order. |
| r | Refresh. |
| d | Delete the project (asks first). |
| q or Esc | Quit Nemocode. |
In the session list
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enter | Open the session. |
| n | New session. |
| i | Import sessions — from Claude Code, or from another Nemocode installation that knows the same folder. |
| g | The memory graph. |
| p | Pending facts. |
| V (Shift + v) | Show the address of the memory graph in the browser in the status line. (The graph screen, g, has v for a menu of views that opens the browser for you.) See The memory in the browser. |
| s | PUM sync: share the memory with a team. See Sharing with a team. |
| y | Pull what colleagues shared, now. |
| Y (Shift + y) | Set up a sync repository on this machine. |
| e | Session access. |
| x | External agents. |
| r | Refresh. |
| b or Esc | Back to the projects. |
At the gate
/pending has four tabs — Proposals, Conflicts, Sync Reviews and
Folders. Tab switches. Esc or
q leaves the gate and returns to where you opened it,
the chat or a list. r reloads.
| Where | Keys |
|---|---|
| Proposals | The list holds proposed facts, proposed connections and proofs. a approve (for a proof: vouch), x reject (for a proof: refute; asks for a reason), i mark a proof irrelevant (asks for a reason), A / X approve or reject everything proposed by the same author as the selected proposal (proposals only, not proofs), c talk it through with the curator, f cycle the filter (all, nodes, edges, proofs), d show or hide what is already decided, Del delete the selected proof (asks first), u undo. |
| Search | In Proposals and Conflicts, / opens a search field; every word must occur. Enter keeps the result and returns to the list, Esc clears the search; a second Esc leaves the gate. |
| Reason field | Enter sends the reason, Esc cancels. An empty reason is not accepted. |
| Conflicts | 1 keep the first, 2 keep the second, d dismiss, c talk it through. |
| Sync Reviews | a approve, s whether you may approve your own reviews, PgUp PgDn scroll the details of the review. |
| Folders | Space or u use a folder for the memory, o open or close it, h harvest newly added folders now. |
u takes back what you approved or deleted during this visit at the gate (one step per press; it says “Nothing to undo here” when there is none). A rejection cannot be taken back that way. It works in Proposals only, not in Conflicts. Every action is also on the action bar: ← → pick, Enter runs.
In the curator's request queue
/requests opens it. See
Curator requests.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ↑ ↓ | Choose a request. |
| Enter | Show or hide all details. |
| a | Approve the change. |
| x | Reject. Type a reason if you want one, Enter sends, Esc cancels. |
| c | Ask the curator about it. |
| A (Shift + a) | Approve everything shown. Press y to confirm; any other key cancels. |
| r | Reload. |
| Esc | Close. |
In the memory graph
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1–5 | Switch between network, overview, nodes, edges, conflicts. Tab and ← → walk through the same five. |
| ↑ ↓ | Move in the list. PgUp PgDn scroll the detail. |
| Enter | In the network view: jump to the list of nodes. |
| / | Filter the nodes (switches to the nodes view). Esc leaves the field; a further Esc clears the filter. |
| Del | Delete the selected node, edge, or — in the conflicts view — one of the two sides. A window shows what goes with it; y or Enter confirms, n or Esc cancels. For a conflict, a and b pick the side first. |
| u | Undo what you deleted on this screen, one step per press. Older changes are not touched. |
| v | Open in the browser — asks which view: the graph, the dashboard, or what your sessions sent each other. |
| r | Reload. |
| Esc or q | Back. With a filter set, the first press clears the filter. |
In windows
Most windows close with Esc. These have keys of their own.
| Window | Keys |
|---|---|
/mode | ↑ ↓ choose, Enter applies, Esc leaves it as it was. |
/effort | ← → choose a level, Enter applies. |
/model, Settings ▸ Models | ↑ ↓ choose, Enter assigns, s opens the search field, w sets the model's context window by hand. In Settings ▸ Models, Enter or → on a role opens the list, e sets that role's thinking level, and ←, x or Backspace takes the role back to the default. |
/config | Tab next tab, Shift + Tab previous, ↑ ↓ choose a row, ← → change its value, Enter opens or flips it, x clears a value on the Project tab so it is inherited again, Esc or q closes. On the Status tab l opens the licence and h the health check. |
/todo | ↑ ↓ choose, a add, Enter or r edit, Space, p or ← → change the status, d or Del delete (asks first, y confirms). Esc or q closes and saves your changes. |
/ideas | n new (a prefix
such as bug: or feature: sets the kind),
Space or x mark done or
open again, d drop, h show
or hide the finished ones, Enter puts the idea in
the input field so you can send it. |
/history | The search field has the focus at first; ↓ moves to the list, Tab or / back to the field, Enter opens the session, Esc clears the search, then closes. |
/areas | Space ticks a topic, a clears all ticks, Enter saves. |
/mcp, /skills, /hooks | ← → switch between the three views. In the MCP view a adds a server, t tests the selected one, d removes it; in the hooks view e, a and d open the list to edit. |
/permissions, /schedule, /agents,
/connectors, /licence, /doctor,
/export | ↑ ↓ choose, the action keys are shown in the window, and a destructive one asks you to press its key a second time. r reloads, Esc or q closes. |
/diff, /help, notes | ↑ ↓ scroll a line, PgUp PgDn a page, g and G jump to the start and the end, Esc or q closes. |
/update | ↑ ↓ choose install or close, Enter confirms. While it installs, no key does anything. |
